In the fall, aspen trees turn a beautiful gold and when the breeze affects them, they look like they're quaking. Although very similar, aspens and birch are not related, birch bark peels and aspen bark doesn't. Hyde Memorial State Park is New Mexico's first State Park which is set in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains among a forest of pines along Little Tesuque Creek. The park is a short drive from Santa Fe and there are beautiful hiking trails with spectacular views.
